What is Poaching?
Poaching is the illegal taking of wild plants or animals in violation of local, state, federal, or international law. Violations of hunting laws are punishable by law and such violations are known as poaching. Animals may be poached for their pelts, horns, bones, etc. Poaching may be illegal because:
- The game or fish is not in season
- Poacher does not posses a valid permit - The poacher is illegally selling the animal, animals parts, or plants for profit. |
- The animal or plant is on restricted land
- Type of bait is inhumane - The animal or plant is protected by law or has been listed as endangered |
What is the Black Market?
The black market is an illegal traffic or trade in officially controlled or scarce commodities. This is an economic activity that merchandise and/or services are sold and bought illegally. Another name for the black market is the "underground market". Although some people may think that black market transactions are harmless, money generated on the black market is often used for illegal purposes.
